Morningside is in desperate need to renovate their front playground! The school's front playground is over 12 years old! This is what it looks like a day after rain. It take a couple of days for the field to dry out before the children can go back on.

The Morningside Elementary School PTA is raising funds to install an artificial turf in the sports/outdoor activity field to the left of the main entrance. See rendering for the 20,000 square foot field design/plan. Along with the turf we are planning a rubber border around the basketball court, a stone knee wall along the tree border/Fordham Court side, and a new fence bordering the entire field. All necessary drainage will accompany the project so the field is usable shortly after instead of days after a rain.

By this spring the PTA projects (including the auction) that we will have approximately $125,000 raised for the project, and we need $250,000 to fully fund construction and finish the project this summer 2014. This leaves a $125,000 gap in funding we are seeking from outside sources. Without extra funding support it would take another 2 years of historical PTA fund raising to reach this goal without diverting funds to other projects and events. All donors for the project will receive a tax deduction and their name on a plaque that will be prominently displayed at the entrance to the field.

Members of the sports field turf committee have bid the project out to several installers, and we have selected a contractor who will assist in design, planning and construction. We hope to complete the project in the summer 2014.
